About the position

We are seeking a Carpenter to support the production and on-site integration of our aluminium alloy doors, windows, and associated products. This role focuses on crafting, fitting, and assembling the timber window structures and associated components that enable our premium products to be securely installed, aligned, and finished to the highest standards. You will apply traditional carpentry skills to modern joinery requirements, ensuring strength, precision, and seamless integration within a variety of building settings.

 

Summary of key information

  • Nature of employment: Permanent full-time

  • Remuneration: $29.70 to $31.50 per hour

  • Overtime rate: at the rate of normal salary for any time worked in addition to an ordinary work week.

  • Minimum guaranteed hours of work: 30 hours per week

  • Maximum hours of work: fixed 40 hours per week

  • Location of work: Aibrook factory in Hillcrest Auckland and various client sites within Auckland region.

 

Summary of key responsibilities (including but not limited to)

• Prepare and select suitable timber, joinery materials, and complementary products to support the installation of aluminium alloy doors and windows.

• Cut, shape, and assemble timber sections using woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools, creating frameworks, trims, and finishing components.

• Construct supporting structures such as sub-frames and bracing to ensure strength and stability of the final installation.

• Fit and secure joinery elements including frames, cladding, fascia panels, and finishing details, ensuring accurate alignment with aluminium components.

• Interpret and apply architectural drawings, specifications, and site requirements to guide measurements, layouts, and installation methods.

• Join and connect timber parts through cutting, shaping, and fitting wood joints to achieve durability and precision.

• Modify or repair existing joinery frameworks, fittings, or supports as required to accommodate replacements or adjustments.

• Incorporate supplementary materials such as laminates, composites, or light metals where required for specific design and functional needs.

• Inspect and verify completed work for quality, trueness, and compliance with building standards.

• Maintain safe working practices, equipment, and tools while collaborating with colleagues across factory and client site environments.

• Undertake other related tasks as required.

 

Key requirements

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate in Carpentry, or a minimum of one year's practical carpentry experience as an alternative to the qualification.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.

  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.

  • Commitment to workplace health and safety practices.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Flexibility to adapt to varied site conditions and client needs.
