Job Description:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
- Dismantling engine components—like engines, transmissions, steering systems—and
assessing parts. - Repairing or replacing worn parts, then reassembling components using service
manuals. - Performing routine maintenance (e.g., oil changes, lubrications, tune-ups) for vehicle
performance and emission compliance. - Testing and adjusting repaired components to ensure correct functionality.
- Using computers to assist in diagnostics and testing.
- Potentially inspecting vehicles for roadworthiness and issuing relevant certificates.
Possibly responding to vehicle breakdown calls
Job requirement: applicant must meet following requirement to apply for this job
- NZQF Level 4 qualification
- At least 3 years of relevant experience
- Sound understanding of petrol engines and vehicle mechanical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and follow service manuals accurately.
- Practical skills in dismantling, repairing, and reassembling vehicle components.
- Problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
- Knowledge of road safety, vehicle regulations, and emission standards.
Good communication skills to explain technical issues to clients and colleagues.
