Food Technologist

Location: Auckland

Company Overview:
We are a fast-growing honey factory based in Auckland, committed to producing and exporting premium-quality mānuka honey and other bee products. With ongoing business expansion, we are seeking a dedicated Food Technologist to support product innovation, improve formulations, and ensure the highest standards across production, packaging, and export.

What we hope you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in food product development, quality assurance, or related areas (experience in honey/natural foods is an advantage)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Knowledge of New Zealand food regulations and export standards (including MPI requirements) will be considered a strong advantage

 

What you will do:

As a Food Technologist in the honey industry, your main responsibilities are:

  • Develop new honey-based products (e.g. manuka honey, honey blends, confectionery, health supplements, skincare applications)
  • Improve existing honey products by enhancing taste, texture, shelf-life, or nutritional value
  • Prepare test samples and conduct laboratory and production trials
  • Source and evaluate raw honey and natural ingredients to ensure authenticity, consistency, and premium quality
  • Manage and supervise honey processing and product development to meet both local and international demand
  • Improve efficiency of honey extraction, blending, and packaging processes
  • Develop sustainable and innovative packaging for honey and related products to support brand positioning in export markets
  • Ensure honey products meet New Zealand and overseas regulatory standards, including food safety, quality assurance, and export certifications
  • Investigate and analyse the nutritional properties and health benefits of honey and related products
