Role

As a Painter, your duties will include:

·         Review job orders, inspect worksites, and determine appropriate work procedures, tools, and materials.

·         Prepare surfaces by removing old paint or wallpaper, repairing woodwork, filling cracks and holes, sanding, smoothing, and sealing.

·         Mix and prepare paints, varnishes, stains, and protective coatings to required colours and consistencies.

·         Apply undercoats, sealers, gloss, enamel, or other finishing coats using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.

·         Accurately mask and protect surrounding areas (windows, doors, shelves, fittings, and other surfaces) before painting or spraying.

·         Hang and align wallpaper, ensuring patterns match and edges are trimmed neatly.

·         Erect scaffolding, ladders, and protective coverings such as drop sheets to ensure safe and clean work areas.

·         Inspect completed surfaces to ensure quality standards are met and touch up any defects as required.

·         Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas, ensuring proper care and safe handling of materials.

·         Adhering to workplace health and safety requirements at all times.

Pastering job may be required before or during painting work.

 

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

·         A Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (not essential).

·         A minimum of 2 year of relevant post-apprenticeship experience.

·         Strong technical knowledge of surface preparation, painting techniques, and finishing methods.

·         A commitment to delivering quality workmanship with great attention to detail.

·         Excellent customer service and communication skills.

·         Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

·         A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to workplace safety.
