Jensen Steel Fabricators is responsible for the supply, fabrication, coating and installation of structural steel of varied projects across the North Island, and works with with many of New Zealand’s major leading construction companies and key manufacturers.

These positions are based in Mount Maunganui and are a great opportunity to be part of a productive team. We offer a competitive pay rate, secure employment, overtime according to programme needs and ongoing training. The pay band for the positions is between $25-$35 an hour with 40 hours minimum of work offered. Overtime rates for hours worked over 40 hours can be negotiated.

Grit Blaster applicants should have good knowledge of industrial blasting and coating techniques. They will be able to work without supervision and be able to plan workflow and production requirements. At times it will be expected that the applicant helps prep and coat structural steel using airless paint system.

Painter applicants will have experience with spray coating and ideally airless paint systems. They will have knowledge of industrial paint products and specifications types. They will be able to work without supervision and be able to plan workflow and production requirements.

We are looking to fill 2 x positions.

What you will do

  • To provide a high level of grit blasting at all times.
  • Help prepare and coat structural steel. Coatings completed with an airless paint system.
  • Complete required documentation
  • Daily checking and routine maintenance of equipment
  • Be a part of a team working together focusing on production

Skills and experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience
  • Previous experience as an industrial grit blaster and/or industrial painter.
  • Metal spraying experience or a willingness to learn.
  • Gantry operation skills would be ideal.

The successful applicant must follow strict quality control procedures and Health and Safety guidelines. Drug testing is now a normal part of H+S and pre-employment procedure. Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
