· Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and sketches to determine required materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
· Select appropriate timbers and other construction materials based on project requirements.
· Prepare accurate layouts for carpentry tasks in accordance with specifications.
· Shape, cut, and modify timber materials to precise measurements using hand and power tools.
· Assemble and secure materials to construct structures using nails, screws, dowels, adhesives, and other fastening methods.
· Construct wooden components that are integral to both the interior and exterior of buildings.
· Install wallboards and floorboards, and fit and fasten door and window frames.
· Construct timber decks, stairs, wooden platforms, and outdoor timber enclosures.
· Build concrete formwork and timber retaining walls.
· Ensure the accuracy, levelness, and overall quality of all structures and installations, including lining, trimming, and finishing work to a high standard.
· Inspect work areas regularly and carry out maintenance, repairs, and renovations as needed to meet project and regulatory standards.
· Follow established safety rules and procedures to maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
· Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
· Collaborate with other trades and contractors on-site to ensure smooth project progression.
· Perform any other duties reasonably required by the employer.
Pay rate: $25 - $28 / hour
Guaranteed hours of work per week: Minimum 30 hours, permanent full-time
Requirements for the job:
· You should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience
· Be physically fit and healthy
· Full time availability, may work on the weekends
· No criminal record
· Candidates need to be NZ citizen/resident
