• Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed. 

Applicants must have the following as per employer’s requirement:

Objectives:

  1. To carry out duties as requested in the factory to ensure high quality fresh fish is prepared for customers.
  2. To take personal responsibility for high standards of hygiene as required for handling and distribution of fresh fish.

Main Duties: 

INWARDS GOODS

  • Unloading fish from fishing vessels or trucks
  • Assisting the factory Manager to ensure fish is stored correctly in chiller and rotated to maintain quality and oldest product is processed first

FISH PROCESSING

  • Filleting and Processing Fish for local and export markets
  • Operating Trio Skinning machine 

PACKING

  • Making up cartons when required.
  • Complete packing for export and local markets and ensure it complies with company procedures.

COLDSTORE MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure offal is stored correctly and assisting loading bulk bins onto truck
  • Empty Blast freezers as necessary – make-up pallets of frozen product
  • Ensure the fish is loaded into the blast or chiller as soon as possible after packing to maintain the cold chain.
  • Monitor processed fish in the chiller to ensure quality is maintained.

DELIVERY

  • Assist “fresh fish” customers at loading bay area if required
  • Loading Ice into ice truck and onto vessels or into ice bags.
  • Advising the Factory Manager or Vessel Manager if there is any damage to a vehicle or maintenance is required.

HYGIENE, QUALITY, HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Comply with all company MPI and health & safety procedures
  • Clean all amenities and canteen as necessary
  • Cleaning down factory as per company cleaning procedures
  • Washing & cleaning of used fish bins and crates.
  • Clean down loading bay area and adjoining chiller areas.
  • Daily Pre-Op and MPI monitoring procedures

GENERAL

  • To assist in any other duties which may be requested to be carried out
  • Comply with general & safety procedures
