Screen Fabricator

Location: Manurewa, Auckland

Updateview Ltd, based in Manurewa, Auckland, is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our team as a Screen Fabrication & Installation Assistant. This is a full-time role in production and installation of fly screens, insect screens, door and window screen systems and outdoor blinds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job, material and equipment requirements

  • Selecting and checking sheetmetal stock such as aluminium, stainless steel, galvanised iron, and mild steel against specifications

  • Marking out metal stock with reference points and lines, using templates, gauges and measuring instruments

  • Cutting sheetmetal along guidelines using hand and power shears, guillotines and drills

  • Shaping and forming metal stock into products using folding machines, rollers, presses and hammers

  • Fitting and assembling components into final products by welding, riveting, soldering, brazing and other joining methods

  • Finishing products by polishing, filing, sanding and cleaning assembled products

  • Assisting with on-site assembly and installation of screen products at customer premises

  • Maintaining tools, workshop equipment, and ensuring workplace safety standards are met

  • May also repair or adjust damaged sheetmetal products and screen components

Terms and Conditions:

  • Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

  • Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week

  • Pay Rate: $29.66 – $34.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

  • Work Location: Updateview Ltd workshop in Manurewa, Auckland, with on-site installation work across the Auckland region

  • Start Date: Immediate or by agreement

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant Level 4 trade qualification or at least two years’ relevant work experience in sheetmetal fabrication

  • Proficiency in using sheetmetal machinery and hand tools

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship

  • NZ Driver Licence preferred
