Our Christchurch Produce team is seeking an experienced Produce Assistant to join their busy night shift on a fixed-term basis to cover a team member on maternity leave.

As part of a dynamic group, you will help pick and pack fresh vegetables and fruits according to customer orders.

The role

  • Immediate start
  • Fixed Term Contract until June 2026
  • Location - Woolston, Christchurch
  • Rostered days: Sunday to Friday (5/6 days a week)
  • Shift timings: 06.00 PM – 02.30 AM

 The Job: 

In this role, you will work with fresh produce (fruits and vegetables), pulling, weighing, and packing supplies, as well as assisting in stocking and other warehouse duties. Your main tasks will include;

  • Picking, weighing and packing orders
  • Assisting in dispatching orders
  • Monitoring product quality before packaging by closely inspecting
  • Handling and restocking inventory
  • Receiving and storing products
  • Performing some heavy lifting (up to 25 kgs)
  • Cleaning work areas and maintaining general housekeeping
  • Strictly adhering to food safety standards and health and safety protocols

The Person: 

We are looking for someone who can work independently to achieve results. Our Produce department operates in a temperature-controlled environment, so you should be comfortable in a cold setting and physically fit for some heavy lifting.

  • Have relevant experience in the fresh produce industry or warehousing/pick pack roles
  • Previous work in a chilled and/or depot environment
  • Reliable transport with full class 1 drivers license.
  • Clear communication skills
  • A confident, flexible attitude with attention to detail
  • Prior NZ experience and knowledge of basic food ingredients
  • Be physically fit and capable of heavy lifting up to 25kg
  • Possess intermediate literacy and numeracy skills
  • Be hardworking, reliable, and demonstrate good work ethics
  • Have a strong understanding of health and safety requirements
