To undertake all boat painting duties from antifouling to top coating of boats.
Location of work: Pine Harbour Marina, Auckland
Hourly rate: between $29.66 and $40.00 per hour depending on experience
Number of hours per week: 42.5 hours per week
Main Tasks
Core objectives include:
- Outside work and sanding, antifouls, Propspeed, cut and polishing
- Filling and fairing
- Paint touch ups, undercoating and top coating boats
- Selecting and preparing paints to required colours and consistencies for boat material type
- Keep a safe and tidy working environment

Experience
- Minimum 3 years of painting experience (marine painting, spray painting, automotive painting). By hand and Spray Painting
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain a Full NZ driver’s license
Skills and Competencies
- Surface Preparation Expertise: Skilled in sanding, fairing, masking, priming, and understanding surface conditions for both fibreglass and aluminium hulls.
- Paint System Knowledge & Application Technique: Strong technical ability in applying high-performance paint systems, whether marine or automotive.
- Tool & Equipment Proficiency: Understanding of application tools and spray equipment, including setup, operation, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Attention to Detail & Finish Quality: Detail-driven, with an eye for finish quality.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Awareness: Understanding of safe handling and disposal of paints, solvents, and thinners; use of PPE; awareness of confined-space procedures; and compliance with marine environmental standards.
- Teamwork & Communication: The ability to collaborate with colleagues, boat builders, other trades, and project managers.
