Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of
Henderson Demolition’s fleet and equipment through
effective preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
This includes light vehicles, heavy trucks, excavators, and mobile plant, supporting operational readiness, legal compliance, and the wellbeing of the workforce
- Minimum 3 years' work experience servicing heavy vehicles, mobile plant, and equipement OR Trade qualification in Automotive or Diesel Mechanics (or equivalent).
- Must have a drivers licence.
- Must be physically fit.
- Must meet pre-employment and ongoing compliance requirements, including
police vetting and drug & alcohol testing. - The employee may work at multiple locations & involve regular travel to various sites in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Northland and Waikato, as determined
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities across mechanical, hydraulic, and
electrical systems. - Proven ability to work independently and safely in high-risk environments.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 management system requirements
and documentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Servicing & Repair
- Carry out scheduled servicing, diagnostics, and repairs across all fleet assets.
- Maintain accurate service records, fault logs, and compliance documentation.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical faults.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and urgent repairs on-site or in the field.
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and legislative requirements.
Workshop Operations
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
- Ensure tools and equipment are correctly maintained and calibrated.
- Manage and store parts, consumables, and chemicals safely and efficiently
- Monitor stock levels and advise the Fleet Manager of procurement needs.
- Assist with fleet inspections, compliance checks, and internal
audits.
Field Support
- Provide mobile mechanical support on demolition and project sites.
- Liaise with site supervisors to coordinate safe access,
equipment downtime, and task scheduling. - Complete all field repair documentation and communicate
updates to the Fleet Manager and relevant teams
Health, Safety & IMS Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures, including correct PPE use, lockout/tagout protocols, and emergency response plans
- Conduct and record pre-start checks, servicing logs, and fault reports in line with ISO and legal requirements.
- Promptly identify and report hazards, incidents, near misses, and wellbeing concerns
- Support environmental management, including spill
containment, waste segregation, and chemical handling. - Participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, documentation, and housekeeping
- Treat all colleagues respectfully and contribute to a positive, inclusive work culture.
- Support psychosocial wellbeing through responsible fatigue management and respectful communication
