Nature Pac is a New Zealand-owned supplier of plant-based, eco-friendly food-service packaging. Our products are designed to be recyclable, compostable and biodegradable, helping businesses across Aotearoa transition to lower-impact packaging. Our head office and warehouse are in Lower Hutt, Wellington.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a commercially astute Accountant to take end-to-end ownership of our finance function in a fast-growing distribution/manufacturing environment. You will safeguard financial integrity, sharpen decision-making through incisive reporting, and strengthen controls as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close: journals, accruals, prepayments, GL and balance-sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare accurate management accounts, cash-flow forecasts, and board-ready KPI packs (e.g., gross margin, stock turns, DSO).
  • Prepare budgets and rolling forecasts; manage cash-flow, AR/AP, credit control and supplier terms.
  • Oversee inventory accounting and COGS (SKU costing, landed-cost allocations, cycle counts, variances).
  • Lead tax compliance (GST, PAYE/withholding, FBT) and liaise with IRD and external advisors.
  • Coordinate annual accounts and audit/review processes.
  • Enhance internal controls, finance policies, and systems (Xero/ERP) for scale and audit-readiness.
  • Provide decision support on pricing, tenders, promotions, procurement and freight/logistics, including business cases for capex.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or closely related field).
  • Working knowledge of New Zealand accounting standards (NZ IFRS).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of post-qualification experience is required; exposure to FMCG, wholesale, manufacturing, or distribution environments is highly regarded.
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modelling) and confidence with Xero/ERP and inventory modules.
  • Sound understanding of NZ tax obligations (GST, PAYE, FBT) and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder-engagement skills, with a continuous-improvement mindset.
