We are looking for an experienced Chef for our busy Indian Restaurant in Wellington.

  • Location: Wellington

  • Duration: Permanent  
  • Pay: Minimum $25.00 and maximum $31.00  
  • Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed  
  • Work Experience: Minimum two years of relevant work experience.  
  • Willing to work on weekends and Public holidays (Working days will be between Monday  and Sunday)  

Job Description:  

• Overseeing kitchen operations to ensure they run smoothly  

• Daily raw food preparation and seasoning 

• Must cook Indian Curry and Tandoori dishes  

• Monitoring the quality of dishes from basic preparation through to service to  customers.  

• Portioning and plating the food to ensure a great presentation to customers

 • Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs 

• Ordering food requirements as per the menu 

• Conducting stock takes and reporting to the restaurant manager 

• Handling customer complaints and discussing them with staff 

• Selecting, supervising, and training kitchen staff, advising them on cooking  procedures. 

• Ability to cater to any special dietary food requirements  

• Must be able to use temperature-controlled equipment 

• Ensure kitchen waste is kept to a minimum  

• Ensuring personal hygiene and maintaining high standards of health and safety

• Reporting to work on time and reporting to the manager at the end of the shift

• Cleaning kitchen work stations before and end of the shift
