Job Title- Hair Stylist/ Barber

32- 40 hours weekly

Payrate- $30 - $35 per hour

Mr. Cut Barbershop is looking for 2 full time enthusiastic barbers for our busy shop in South Auckland shop.

The ideal candidate will have the responsibility of providing services, learning new techniques as required, applying knowledge of the industry, and providing excellent customer service which is paramount.

About the role:

The Applicant will be required to Colour, Shampoo, Cut, Style, communicating with customers and provide advice in relation to Hair treatments.

Job duties will include:

  • Cut, trim and shape hair or hair pieces as per client’s requirements using clippers. Scissors, trimmers and razors.
  • Provide beard trims to clients looking for grooming. Provide advice on hair care, beauty products and hairstyles.
  • Styling hair into dreadlocks and braids and adding hair extensions.
  • Colouring, straightening and permanently waving hair with chemical solutions.
  • Shaving and trimming beards and moustaches.
  • Schedule client appointments and collecting payments.
  • Shampoo, rinse, condition and dry hair and scalp with water, liquid soap or other solutions and conditioning scalps.
  • Demonstrate and sell hair care products.
  • Keep workstation clean and sanitize tools such as scissors and combs.
  • Provide suggestions to clients regarding current hair styles and popular trends.
  • Ensure that sufficient items such as clean wrap sheets and towels are available on an ongoing basis.
  • Resolve clients’ complaints properly in a bid to ensure recurring business from them.
  • Answer clients’ questions regarding barbershop’s facilities and hair care products.

Other requirements:

  • 2 years of work experience OR Level 4 OR Higher qualification is preferable 
  • All suitable candidates should be able to pass a drug test and a Ministry of Justice/Police check when required.
  • Strong client relationship and customer service skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Must be able to work on weekends. Normal working hours will be from 9am to 7pm.
  • Able to work unsupervised, providing a consistently high standard of work.
