The Geological Field Technician is responsible for coordinating and supervising field operations for geotechnical investigations. The role involves coordinating field works, conducting field tests, managing sampling activities, ensuring accurate data collection, and maintaining compliance with company and regulatory health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage daily field activities, including scheduling drilling, sampling, and testing operations.
  • Conduct geotechnical and geological field tests such as density, permeability, and compaction tests.
  • Oversee drilling operations to ensure correct sampling techniques and accurate data recording.
  • Implement and monitor health and safety procedures on site, ensuring all personnel comply with company H&S policies.
  • Identify potential hazards and take corrective action to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain detailed field logs, site records, and testing data for submission to engineers or geologists.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient workflow and quality results.
  • Calibrate and maintain field and testing equipment, ensuring reliability and accuracy of results.
  • Support continuous improvement of field procedures and contribute to staff training on safety and technical practices.
