We have a vacancy for a Full time Chief Plant Operating Engineering Technician in the Auckland region, who are prepared to thrive in a company, focused on quality, growth and development in metal industry. You will be required to work between minimum 30 hours to maximum 45 hours in a week. Our business operates throughout the week from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. In this role, you may be required to work flexible hours during the week, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Job Responsibilities
· Supervise daily operations of the metal recycling plant, ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient processing of materials.
· Oversee plant equipment operation including metal shredders, balers, shears, conveyors, and sorting systems, ensuring all machinery complied with operational standards and safety regulations.
· Conducted preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, systems to maintain productivity.
· Coordinate with engineering and safety teams to implement upgrades and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety protocols.
· Train and supervise plant technicians and machine operators in equipment handling, troubleshooting, and workplace safety procedures.
· Focus on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and cost control.
· Installation of new industrial equipment, including operational testing.
· Liaised with external contractors, vendors, and environmental inspectors to ensure compliance with New Zealand environmental standards.
· Applied strong problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations to maintain plant uptime and address unexpected equipment failures.

Salary can be negotiated as per your proven experience level; it will range from $35 per hour to $45 per hour.
