Orchard Supervisor

We are a family-owned gold kiwifruit (G3) growing company based in Paengaroa since 2016. We are looking to expand our business further and are seeking multiple new staff members to join our team.

 

Job responsibilities include:

·      Identify and monitor orchard resource requirements/allocation including staff, ­­supplies and orchard equipment in support of the company owner.

·      selecting and planting seeds, seedlings, and grafting new varieties to root stocks

·      maintaining crop production by cultivating, de-budding and pruning, and maintaining optimal growing conditions

·      Undertake of orchard team members performance including induction, engagement, health & safety, and timesheet administration.

·      Liaise with company owner on a daily basis on discuss continuity of orchard work programmes and communicate to teams as required.

·      Manage the orchard operations such that the resources are utilised efficiently to maximise the productivity.

·      Review tools and equipment regularly to ensure staff safety

·      Report back to owner on daily outputs of staff work and productivity result.

·      Ensuring all work complies with all current/relevant government legislation, policy and procedures.

·      Keen focus on Health & Safety procedures.

·      An enthusiastic and hardworking approach to work.

·      Should be able take additional responsibilities as given by the employer.

 

A potential candidate must have at least 2 - 5 years' experience in horticulture or farming.

Must be available on weekends, after hours or on public holidays, if needed. 

Competitive hourly rate of at least $25-$35, depending on experience.

Minimum guaranteed hours – 30 Hours per week

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa

Valid driver’s Licence 

Be willing to go through drug and/or medical
