About Your Role
For this junior-level role, the designer is responsible for engineering and design-related tasks focusing on composites and mechanical engineering (covering yacht masts, booms). They will ensure tasks are completed in full, on time, and in specification (IFOTIS) while meeting the performance goals set. You will:
• Produce design as required to meet the design office and production schedules.
• Work to Southern Spars’ standard procedures and policies, to ensure your design output is of the required quality and accuracy.
• Work with other departments to assist their efforts to meet planned and unplanned task deadlines.
• Work with all staff in establishing and maintaining a satisfying and productive work environment for all Design Office staff.
• Annual salary $75,000 based on 40 hours weekly

What you’ll bring
Required:
• At least bachelor’s degree in engineering – Mechanical
• Passion for yachting & sailing experience
• Knowledge of QA & QC for composite structures within the manufacturing process
• Combination of 2D and 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks and AutoCAD or similar)
• Microsoft Office including Excel
Preferred:
• This role is focused on Design Engineering, but analysis skills including FEA definitely valuable
• Experience with R&D and evaluating and testing material properties
• A good understanding of manufacturing engineering will also be helpful
• Proficiency in Dutch and Spanish
