March Cato are a civil engineering business working in greater Auckland region to deliver 3 Waters projects for our clients. This work includes pipe-jacking, tunnelling, deep open trenching, sheet piling and shaft construction. All roles for March Cato are in service of delivering 3 waters infrastructure, which is our core business.
About the role:
The STMS Assessor manages the temporary traffic management for our sites, including TMO’s and TC’s working on the project, taking responsibility for the safe, compliant deployment of Traffic Management setups under their control. This role includes mentoring and growing our Traffic team to develop as leaders in the industry. This will be a frontline role, based on our sites across Auckland, where the STMS Assessor will confidently represent March Cato Ltd in front of members of the public, stakeholders and third parties.
Applicants must have the following:
- Current Cat A STMS qualification
- NZQA 4098 Workplace Assessor qualification
- Current First Aid certification
- Must have valid NZ drivers licence (class 2 licence preferred)
- Previous experience in TTM on civil construction projects and the safe deployment of TTM controls and efficient deployment of staff.
- Can read, interpret and implement TTM drawings.
- Experience in auditing, assessing and mentoring essential.
- Must have full NZ drivers’ licence and hold TTM qualifications (Cat A)
- Candidate must be a team player who holds the health, safety and wellbeing of the crew and the project team as an absolute priority.
- Interpersonal skills, including mediator, communicator and motivator skills to develop and mentor other STMSs, TMOs and Traffic Controllers.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- The candidate will be required to carry out training, verification and assessments of TTM staff to gain and renew their TTM qualifications.
- Work with the team to assess our sites and identify improvements.
- Contribute and be involved in daily work planning as well as the development of safe working methodologies.
- Mentor STMS’s, TMOs and TCs in compliance with current standards.
- Work with H&S team to identify improvements through audits.
- Work with Traffic Operations to co-ordinate with site crews and the traffic team to deploy TTM people and equipment in accordance with the approved TMP
- Keep good records of any changes made and communicate with the construction crews, making everyone aware of what is happening on site for the day ahead.
- Maintain records of TTM set up, checks, handovers and any H&S registers, including training records and certification for you and your team.
- Finalise checks of timesheets for your TTM staff
- Assist the TTM Manager/Traffic Operations with reviewing the TMPs during their development

We offer competitive pay: $31 - $37 per hour, depending on experience.
