For many years, they have been a trusted nutrition partner to livestock farmers nationwide, helping them achieve optimal animal health and productivity through sustainable, cost-effective, and scientifically formulated feed solutions.
With continued growth and strong market demand, they are now seeking an experienced Business Development Manager / Account Manager to take ownership of sales and relationship development across the animal nutrition and stockfeed distribution sector.
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute, technically minded salesperson who thrives on building partnerships and driving results.
You will be responsible for growing sales volume and market share through feed distributors and agricultural partners throughout New Zealand. The role combines strategic business development with technical understanding of animal nutrition and will suit someone who is equally comfortable discussing feed formulations as they are negotiating a national supply agreement.

Key Responsibilities

Drive sales growth across existing Key Accounts and New accounts within the animal nutrition and stockfeed distribution market.

Identify and secure new business opportunities to achieve annual tonnage, revenue, and margin targets.

Build and strengthen long-term relationships with procurement, nutrition, and production teams within feed companies.

Build and strengthen long-term relationships with procurement, nutrition, and production teams within feed companies.

Manage key strategic relationships across feed distributors and agricultural partners.

Negotiate pricing, supply contracts, and volume commitments to optimise margins and continuity of supply.

Analyse market trends, commodity price movements, and innovations in feed nutrition.

Partner with R&D and Technical teams to commercialise new ingredient solutions and formulations.

Liaise with production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure consistent supply, delivery accuracy, and product integrity.

Provide customers with product and technical knowledge focused on nutritional value, digestibility, and sustainability benefits.

Support customer trials, on-farm evaluations, and technical presentations.

Collaborate with marketing to develop technical datasheets, promotional materials, and customer communications.

Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and market intelligence.

Travel nationally as required to build and maintain customer relationships.
About you:

Proven experience in B2B sales within feed ingredients, animal nutrition, or agri-supply sectors.

A structured, results-driven approach to business development and account growth.

Sound technical understanding of feed formulation, nutrient contribution, and livestock performance (dairy, beef, piggery and equine).

Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills.

Commercially strategic thinker. Analytical, data-driven decision-maker

Well-developed negotiation skills, which will result in closure of a sale.

Proficient with using an ERP and forecasting tools.

Self-motivated, professional, a good communicator at all levels.

Able to travel nationally as required.

A relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Animal Science, or Agribusiness is highly desirable.
