Job Description:
Responsible for setting up and operating a range of machine tools in accordance with detailed drawings and technical requirements to perform precision cutting, shaping, and machining of metal components and castings. The role involves manufacturing parts used in aluminum doors, windows, curtain walls, louvers, and other metal structures.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Review technical drawings and specifications to select appropriate materials, machining methods, operation sequences, and machine settings.

• Assemble fabricated metal components into products and construct subassemblies to complete machines and equipment.

• Inspect fabricated and assembled metal parts for precision, clearance, and fit using precision measuring tools.

• Configure guides, stops, and other machine controls, set up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses, and adjust controls for textile machinery.

• Shape metal stock and castings to tight tolerances using machining tools such as presses, cutters, grinders, planers, drills, and bores.

• Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic piping and tubing as required.

• Prepare pattern mechanisms to regulate the operation of textile machinery for spinning, weaving, knitting, sewing, and tufting processes.

• Manufacture aluminum doors, windows, curtain walls, louvers, and other metal products, including drilling or punching necessary openings.

• Program and operate machines to perform precise machining operations.

• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, carry out routine maintenance, and repair or overhaul machine and fluid power components.

• Complete any other reasonable tasks as directed by the employer.

• May assemble and install machines and equipment at job sites.

• Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the employer.

Job Requirement

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience or a relevant NZ level 4 qualification or an equivalent overseas qualification is required.
