Job Description:

Responsible for operating industrial spray-painting and powder-coating machines to apply protective and decorative finishes on aluminum profiles and other manufactured products. Work includes electrostatic powder coating of aluminum window and door frames, curtain wall profiles, fencing parts, and aluminum louvers.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare aluminum profiles and other metal surfaces by grinding, sanding, and cleaning to ensure proper coating adhesion;

• Load paints, powders, lacquers, varnishes, and anti-corrosion materials into spray or powder-coating equipment;

• Setup and adjust electrostatic powder-coating systems, including connecting hoses and configuring spray guns and nozzles to achieve required air pressure and powder flow;

• Secure aluminum frames, profiles, and parts in spray booths or place them on conveyors for coating operations;

• Operate spray guns and powder-coating equipment to achieve even, high-quality finishes on aluminum doors, windows, curtain walls, fences, and louver sections;

• Transfer coated items to curing or drying ovens and stack them appropriately for subsequent processing, inspection, or packaging;

• Start and monitor extractors, curing ovens, drying fans, and temperature control systems during coating and drying processes;

• Mix coating powders or liquid solutions as needed and control their temperature, viscosity, and electrostatic parameters to ensure finish quality;

• Clean spray guns, powder containers, nozzles, and hoses regularly to maintain equipment performance and avoid contamination;

• Inspect finished surfaces for uniform color, coating thickness, and overall quality, performing touch-ups when necessary;

• Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations regarding paint/powder handling, spray booth operation, and waste disposal;

• Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the employer.

  • Pay rate: 30.00 – 35.00 New Zealand dollars per hour
  • Days required: Monday to Friday
  • Hours per week: At least 40

Job Requirement

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience or a relevant NZ level 4 qualification or an equivalent overseas qualification is required.
