Our organisation is entirely unique and comprises two distinct parts. Mujintu is a dynamic brand specialising in bespoke furniture, custom cabinetry and joinery. Our work encompasses custom high-end furniture making for residential and commercial projects, alongside our other brand, Wildernest, which specialises in exhibition and event fit-outs, as well as glamping builds.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Operate woodworking machinery, including crosscut saws, buzzers/planers, thicknessers, panel saws, vertical panel saws, moulders, and tenoning machines.
  • Competently use power tools relevant to carpentry and the Lamello Zeta P2 system.
  • Apply various finishes (paint, wax, oil, varnish, lacquer) to a high standard.
  • Apply traditional joinery methods, working with veneers, marquetry, laminates, MDF, plywood, and solid timber.
  • Perform angle cutting, curved furniture crafting, and ornamental moulding.
  • Fabricate and assist in the installation of bespoke items, including kitchens, tables, stairs, doors, windows, acoustic panels, flooring, shopfronts, speaker surrounds, and exhibition builds.
  • Read and follow technical drawings and digital design outputs.
  • Uphold workshop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work environment.
  • Travel outside Auckland when required for installations and event builds.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required

  • 1–2 years’ relevant woodworking/cabinetmaking/carpentry experience.
  • Certificate in Carpentry, Joinery, or Cabinetmaking will be preferable but not mandatory
  • Strong foundation in woodworking machinery and finishing methods.
  • Experience using Fusion 360 design software - preferable.
  • Proficiency in joinery, veneers, laminates, and solid timber.
  • Forklift licence preferred (or willingness to obtain immediately).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and digital design outputs.
  • Physically fit: ability to lift and move heavy objects, stamina to stand for extended periods.

Work Environment

The role is primarily based at our workshop. Some work will take place on-site during installations and event builds. Adherence to health & safety protocols is mandatory, and PPE is provided.
