WANTED SHEETMETAL WORKER FOR TANKSALOT.
Tanksalot is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sheetmetal Worker to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of sheet metal product creation, from interpreting technical drawings and selecting materials to the final assembly, finishing, and equipment maintenance. This role requires precision, strong technical knowledge of metal forming machinery, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities:
● Interpretation and Planning:
o Studies drawings and specifications to accurately determine job material, hardware
requirements, and construction details.
o Creates and follows a production plan to ensure timely and efficient completion of all jobs.
● Material Selection and Preparation:
o Selects required metal coil stocks and sheets to meet specific job specifications regarding material type, thickness, and finish.
o Cuts metal material along job specifications using various tools, including hand and power shears, guillotines, and saws.
● Forming and Fabrication:
o Shapes and forms cut metal stock into products by expertly operating roll forming machinery, curving machinery, folding, and bending equipment within specified size and gauge requirements.
o Responsible for reviewing and interpreting and entering correct machine settings to achieve the required outcome and produce the ordered product efficiently and accurately.
● Assembly and Finishing:
o Fits and assembles components into final products by operating specialist equipment, including riveting machinery (e.g. Henrob).
o Fits additional components to final products, ensuring all aspects meet job specifications and customer requirements.
o Finishes products by properly cleaning and painting assembled products as required.
● Maintenance and Quality Control:
o Performs regular machinery maintenance, fault diagnosis, and servicing on all assigned
equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
o Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols.
o Conducts quality checks throughout the process to ensure all components and final products meet high standards and tight tolerances.
Requirements and Skills:
● Level 4 NZQCF Certificate in Engineering Fabrication (Trade) or at least three years of relevant experience.
● Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker, Sheet Metal Fabricator, or similar trades role.
● Ability to read, understand, and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
● Proficiency in operating various sheet metal fabrication machinery, including brakes, folders, guillotines, and specialized riveting tools.
● Strong knowledge of various metal types, gauges, and forming properties.
● Experience operating and maintaining Roll Forming Machinery.
● Experience operating and maintaining Henrob riveting machinery.
● Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
● Commitment to occupational Health and Safety standards.
● Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
● Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.
● Must be a NZ Citizen, NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.
This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$28.50 and NZ$32.50, depending on experience and qualification. The work hours are from 30 hours minimum to 50 hours maximum per week, and they are to be worked between Monday and Friday between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. They may be required to work on weekends.
