We have a vacancy for a Full time Machine Technician in the Auckland region, who are prepared to operate machines and tools to repair, shape and form metal components used in the metal shredder plant including shafts, hammers, liners and other wear parts to fine tolerances. You will be required to work between minimum 30 hours to maximum 45 hours in a week. Our business operates throughout the week from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. In this role, you may be required to work flexible hours during the week, weekends, and statutory holidays.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Reviewing engineering drawings and equipment specifications to determine appropriate materials, repair methods, sequence of maintenance operations, and required machine settings for shredder and auxiliary systems.
  • Fitting and assembling fabricated metal components such as hammers, shafts, liners, and conveyor parts to ensure correct alignment and optimal shredder performance.
  • Inspecting and measuring fabricated or assembled components (rotors, bearings, wear plates, etc.) for dimensional accuracy, clearance, and fit using precision measuring tools.
  • Cutting, bending, and installing hydraulic and pneumatic lines associated with the shredder’s feed system, discharge conveyor.
  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and conducting preventive and periodic maintenance on shredder motors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, conveyors, and material handling equipment.
  • Overhauling and repairing mechanical components and fluid power systems to restore performance and reliability of the shredding plant.
  • Installing, aligning, and commissioning heavy machinery and equipment such as shredders, conveyors, feeders, and dust extraction systems on-site.

Salary can be negotiated as per your proven experience level; it will range from $30 per hour to $35 per hour.
