We are a renowned Indian restaurant based in Auckland. We have a vacancy for two chefs. The job is full time (30 hours each week) and hourly rate offered is $26/hr to $30.00/hr. Your key duties will involve:

Job duties:

  • Oversee kitchen operations and ensure that kitchens works smoothly
  • Train, hire and supervise kitchen staff from time to time
  • Performing all the essential food preparation, seasoning and cooking
  • Order stock and ensure there is minimum wastage
  • Resolve customer complaints
  • Plan and update menu from time to time
  • Maintain Tandoor (Charcoal Oven) in working state
  • Regulating temperatures of cooking equipment like grills and ovens
  • Maintain and ensure food quality at all times
  • Store food in temperature-controlled facilities
  • Maintaining hygiene at all times
  • Stocktaking and reporting it to the owners
  • Clean and keep the kitchen as required by NZ standards

Candidate requirements:

  • At least two-three year of relevant experience or a level 4 in cookery 
  • Able to work on weekends and public holidays
  • Able to work till 9:30 pm in the evening. 
  • Knowledge of Indian cuisine preferred
  • No criminal history
