We are looking for a motivated Project Engineer to support the pricing, planning and delivery of civil and roading projects. This role suits someone who enjoys working with clients, coordinating resources, and ensuring projects run smoothly, safely, on time and within budget.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare tenders, quotes and cost estimates.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients.
- Set up, manage and close out projects following company processes.
- Plan and schedule labour, plant, subcontractors and suppliers effectively.
- Monitor project progress, cost performance and delivery timeframes.
- Ensure work meets required safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Identify risks or issues early and seek support as required.
- Complete project documentation, variations, invoicing and reporting accurately.
- Support team coordination and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Promote and follow safe work practices, stopping unsafe work when necessary.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant tertiary qualification (civil/roading experience ideal).
- Practical experience as a civil engineer expert
- Full, clean Class 1 driver’s licence.
- Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
- Understanding of job and project pricing (materials, labour, plant, margins/profit)
- Sound understanding of the legislative framework, standards and best practice methodology that apply to project management and audit issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A proactive, can-do approach and willingness to learn.
- Required to work in Canterbury, Southland, and Otago region
Desirable (Not Essential):
- Familiarity with NZS 3910, NEC contracts, or the Construction Contracts Act.
- Current First Aid certification.
