The Opportunity
Lead the development of Sky Auto Parts’ presence in the New Zealand aftermarket for China-manufactured spare parts. You will design and execute the growth strategy spanning product, pricing, channel and brand, to increase revenue, market share, and long-term enterprise value.
Key Responsibilities
Market & Strategy
- Plan, organise, direct, and control sales and marketing activities for a portfolio of China-manufactured, OEM-equivalent aftermarket parts (e.g., filtration, braking, steering & suspension, rotating electrical, cooling, body & lighting) for vehicle makes widely used in NZ.
- Own the go-to-market plan: segmentation, targeting, positioning, and regional rollout (trade, wholesale, independent workshops, e-commerce).
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify product gaps and new revenue streams; set sales targets, budgets, pricing architectures, discount frameworks, and promotional calendars.
- Set annual budgets, sales targets and forecasts; establish pricing architectures, discount frameworks and promotional calendars.
Sales & Commercial Execution
- Build and manage key accounts (distributors, dealer networks, multi-site workshops); negotiate trading terms, rebates and supply agreements.
- Drive pipeline via outbound prospecting, tenders, trade events and partnerships; maintain CRM, forecasting accuracy and win/loss analysis.
- Establish/optimise trade programmes (credit, returns, warranties) with Finance & Operations; improve fill-rate, stock turns and category margin.
Marketing & Brand
- Lead brand strategy and campaigns across website, search, trade media, catalogues and events; define KPIs and measure ROI.
- Oversee product information, merchandising and online catalogue integrity; implement analytics and attribution.
Sourcing, Quality & Supply Chain
- Identify, vet, and onboard Mainland China suppliers and OE-equivalent manufacturers; negotiate MOQs, QA standards, lead times, and landed-cost targets.
- Coordinate import logistics, customs/compliance documentation, and consumer-law warranty settings; manage failure-analysis feedback with suppliers.
Leadership & Governance
- Recruit, coach and performance-manage a small sales/marketing team; embed a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Prepare board-grade reporting on pipeline, revenue, GM%, budget variance, market intelligence and strategic risks; present actions and outcomes.
- Uphold H&S, privacy and ethical-sourcing policies.
What You’ll Bring
- A relevant qualification in business/commerce, marketing, supply chain, engineering or similar (or equivalent experience); or
- 3+ years’ progressive B2B/B2B2C sales & marketing experience—ideally automotive aftermarket/parts distribution or adjacent industrial sectors.
- Proven success launching/scaling product portfolios, pricing and channel development.
- Commercial acumen in budgeting, forecasting and contribution margin; strong supplier and key-account negotiation.
- Familiarity with China-based supply ecosystems and NZ compliance/warranty expectations.
- CRM proficiency (e.g., HubSpot/Salesforce) and advanced Excel; data-led decision-making.
- Clear written and oral communication; ability to produce executive-level reports and presentations.
