JSTAX is a professional accounting and taxation firm providing bookkeeping, GST services, payroll processing, business advisory, and financial reporting for individuals and SMEs across New Zealand.

As our client base continues to grow, we are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support our day-to-day accounting operations.

About the Role

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, completing reconciliations, assisting with GST and PAYE, and preparing financial summaries for accountants.

This role suits someone with strong numerical accuracy, good financial understanding, and the ability to work independently.

 

Key Responsibilities

Maintain bookkeeping records (AP/AR, journals, general ledger)

Complete bank reconciliations and transaction matching

Assist with GST, PAYE and supporting documentation

Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for accountants

Review invoices, receipts and supporting documents for accuracy

Assist with financial information packages for loan or compliance purposes

Communicate with clients regarding missing documentation

Support accountants during audits or IRD enquiries

 

Skills & Experience

NZQCF Level 5 qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Statistics, or a bachelor's degree in any discipline, or,

At least 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or financial administration

Strong ability to interpret financial statements, cashflow information, and other basic financial reports

Proficiency in Excel and strong general digital literacy

Familiarity with Xero/MYOB or other widely used financial or accounting software systems will be considered an advantage

Excellent accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail

Strong communication skills with a client-service mindset
