• Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Service and maintain fleet of company vehicles, trucks and other plant and equipment including diggers/excavator. 
  • Maintaining a tidy appearance of workshop and yard. 
  • Checking all equipment prior to use and reporting anonymities immediately.

KEY RESULTS AREAS

1. Ensuring vehicles and machinery are fit for purpose and compliant for use.

2. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems with vehicles and equipment.

3. Ability to carry out maintenance and servicing of vehicles and trucks to Warrant of Fitness/Certificate of Fitness standards. Maintenance of yard machinery and equipment.

4. Update and maintain the Maintenance Register on all company vehicles.

5. Report to yard Manager status of any vehicles or equipment that has been damaged or require maintenance. Ordering parts needed and carry out maintenance as directed.

6. To be onsite and ready to work by the commencement time of your shift.

7. To be dressed in uniform. Ensuring this is kept in clean and good repair.

8. If you are sick you must telephone your Direct Manager in person, prior to the commencement time of your shift to inform them of your absence. If for any reason they are not contactable you are then to call Dispatch to report your absence. You must leave a contact number and be contactable by your Direct Manager at any time you are off sick.

9. The Yard Manager must approve any staff purchases.

10. Be prepared to work overtime if required and to take additional responsibilities as requested by your Direct Manager.

11. Be flexible to work at other branch locations nationwide if necessary to meet the operational needs of the business.

12. To adhere to all Health and Safety and security procedures.

13. Report all incidents, injuries and accidents including near misses to your manager as soon as practicable and, no later than the end of your shift.

14. Experienced in the use (and maintenance) of fork hoist.

15. Driving and/or Yard Work and any other duties as directed by your Manager.

Driving

Where required – your duties may include but are not limited to:

16. You are responsible for knowing and operating in accordance with NZ Transport Agency rules and regulations. That you hold the appropriate licence to operate the vehicle being driven on a road and, where a logbook is required you must use one.

17. Every morning check trucks and equipment prior to use. E.g oil, fuel, water, mileage, warrant, COF and registration. Ensure all other equipment or machinery in use is first checked for appropriate fluids and safety.

18. Report in the first instance to the Direct Manager and/or Dispatcher any damage to vehicle or equipment and if maintenance is required.

19. If, as a driver you will be responsible for the security of the vehicle you drive and the ones you are towing.

20. All paperwork must be filled out accurately with id sighted and recorded.

21. If buying stock, your purchase document is a legal document and any discrepancy in the purchase document’s accuracy will be subject to a disciplinary investigation.

22. All trucks that are owned by the company are for company use only. They are not to be used after hours or for personal use. No passengers are to be carried in company vehicles unless permission has been sought and obtained.

Yard Work

If or where required - your duties may include some yard work but are not limited to:

23. To Ground Detail cars

24. Use (and maintenance) of Seda to drain fluids from vehicles

25. Putting cars out into dismantling yard

26. Ability to unload cars off tow trucks coming into yard

27. To keep your workspace and the yard and surrounding areas clean and tidy
