FRUIT PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
A Fruit Production Supervisor shall supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the orchard. You will report direct to Orchard Manager.
Working hours- 30 hours minimum guaranteed
Remuneration - $30.00 per hour
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day to day fruit production activities including planting, pruning, thinning, pest control, irrigation and harvesting
- Plan, organise and record the business meetings.
- Create and oversee opportunities for staff training.
- Implement standard operating procedures relating to orchard work.
- Train, supervise staff employed.
- Create a daily, weekly, and monthly work schedule for staff under the manager’s supervision.
- Be part of strategy development for the promotion and business development
- Make reports for equipment, materials and production and yields
- Lead and support orchard staff ensuring tasks are completed on time.
- Monitor crop health, identify issues on time and implement corrective actions
- Lead implementation of cutting edge modern farm practices, techniques, and equipment.
- Maintain proper records and reporting of key data – crop estimates, and Integrated pest management data.
- Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures.
- Operate and supervise farm equipment and machinery
- Work closely with management to plan seasonal work schedules
- Plan, organize and oversee the ordering and planting of new plants
- Suggest or recommend changes in the business process and manage risk from economic factors
- Oversee the preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment and tools used in the horticultural area.
Key Requirements
You must have 2 years of relevant work experience or a Level 4 qualification in this field.
Be able to work long days, weekends and public holidays
Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions
Strong leadership quality
Time management skills
