Are you an experienced restoration professional ready to step into a specialist senior role? RESTATE New Zealand is looking for a motivated Senior Specialist Restoration Technician. This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex restoration projects, guide junior technicians, and make a real impact in a growing business known for excellence, safety and quality. This is a permanent role (min 30 hours per week) based in Auckland with a pay rate of $28 - $35/hr plus call out allowance/on call retainers etc. Normal working days are Monday – Friday with call out roster requirements (1 week per month approx.).

About the Role
In this senior position, you will deliver a wide range of specialist restoration services with professionalism, accuracy, and care. You’ll work autonomously across diverse environments, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes for our clients. This role also includes supervising/training juniors, managing job sites, and contributing to a strong health & safety culture. No two days are the same and you’ll have an interesting variety of work. Property restoration is a niche industry with plenty of work, so you’ll be busy. We incentivise our staff to get the best results, the role includes a company vehicle, uniform and smart phone.
Key Responsibilities include
Restoration & Technical Work
- Water and flood restoration
- Fire, smoke and odour restoration
- Mould remediation and indoor air quality improvements
- Methamphetamine decontamination
- Biohazard, trauma and crime scene clean-ups
- Sewage and contaminated liquid decontaminations
- Bacteria and virus decontaminations
- Carpet cleaning, repair and replacement
- Laser cleaning
- Property assessments, inspections and reports
- Demolition, sanding, stripping, media blasting and general cleaning
- Carpentry/construction tasks
- Use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, moisture meters, particle counters and other equipment
Administration & Site Management
- Project management of client sites including client communication and service delivery
- Job management, reporting, photo documentation and assessments, health & safety compliance
Team & Culture
- Training and supervising junior technicians
- Supporting a positive, proactive health & safety culture
- Upholding company standards, policies and legal requirements
Skills & Experience
You will need:
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience, including at least 1 year of carpentry experience
- IICRC WRT and TSCT certifications (additional IICRC qualifications strongly preferred)
- Full NZ driver licence (or international equivalent)
- First Aid Level 1 (or willingness to complete within 1 month)
- Site Safe Construction Passport (or willingness to complete within 1 month)
- Strong time-management, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously and lead others confidently
- Commitment to safety, professionalism and high-quality workmanship
