Big Save is seeking a confident, experienced, and people-focused Accountant to  lead our dynamic Accounts Team. You will be based in our office in Ahuriri. This is a pivotal role responsible for managing the end-to-end finance and accounts function while fostering a culture of accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
 
About the Role
As the Account Manager, you will oversee the full accounts function, ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency across all aspects of the business. You’ll play a key leadership role, working closely with suppliers, customers, banks, internal teams, and senior management. A strong customer focus, attention to detail, and a drive to improve processes are vital in this role.
 
You will be responsible for:
  • Leading and supporting the Accounts Team in their daily functions.
  • Providing hands-on cover for critical tasks as needed, including:
    • Expense and PO invoice processing
    • Supplier payments
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Petty cash management
    • Debtor management and customer refunds
  • Reconciling ledgers and investigating discrepancies.
  • Supplier and store liaison.
  • Month-end reporting, analysis of expenses, and supporting the CFO and Group Accountant.
  • Managing the supplies email inbox and coordinating courier dispatches.
  • Ensuring all accounting practices comply with internal procedures and health and safety policies.
  • Championing continuous improvement in workflows and systems.
Key Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar, AND
  • Three years' experience in staff management and senior finance leadership roles.
  • Background in retail accounts management.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Business Central, and Xero.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
  • Experience managing remote teams.
  • Understanding of the furniture retail industry.
  • Tagalon language skills are a plus to lead our offshore team.
