This 3-month contract requires a procurement specialist to identify and negotiate with suppliers for the supply of capital, consumables and services whilst ensuring that the tendering process and selection of these suppliers is performed in the most reliable and cost effective manner and in accordance with policy and proceedure.

Within this contract you will need to apply BEST practice techniques in negotiation and the management of these activities in accordance with policy and procedures taking into consideration the needs of customers.

 Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop strong internal working relationships with service providers
  • Negotiate optimum deals with suppliers for goods and services within the tendering/contract policy and procedures of the organisation
  • Negotiate variations and introduce quality and service performance criteria
  • Work to pre determined timetables and deadlines
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy and analysis in the presentation of tenders to the delegated authority for approval
  • Initiate key supplier development activities and manage relationships

Required Experience / Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in a Procurement or Supply Chain function within a large organisation with a focus on tender processes, firm contract negotiation and purchase order administration
  • IS experience and/or knowledge
  • Proven ability in the establishment of commercially sound vendor partnerships
  • Strong computer literacy with sound experience in Microsoft Office 2007 products
  • Familiarity with fully integrated supply chain systems including customer service and inventory control
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines whilst operating within a consultative/continuous change environment
  • Appropriate report writing skills
  • Health sector experience would be an advantage
