We are seeking a dedicated Team Leader to oversee Butchery production at our Christchurch Branch. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage and guide the team, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional quality products.

The Job:

  • Full-time permanent 
  • Pay rate: $28 - $30 per hour
  • Location: 220 Cumnor Place, Woolston, Christchurch
  • Roster: Monday to Friday, occasional Saturdays
  • Hours: 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm

About the Role:

As Team Leader, you will:

  • Supervise and lead the butchery team, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and food safety regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels, minimise waste, and ensure proper storage and rotation of stock.
  • Train and coach team members on techniques, safety, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with processing teams and provide operational support across departments.
  • Ensure accurate packing, labelling, and adherence to operational SOPs.
  • Act as the go-to person for issue resolution and operational continuity.

The person: 

You will possess an understanding of meat product handling, quality control, and dispatch processes. You will ideally have relevant experience leading a team either in the Butchery or Warehousing industry.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who:

  • Has NZQCF Level 4 qualification or above with a year of experience in Butchery or Warehouse, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in a food environment.
  • Current valid forklift license or willing to have one.
  • Thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
  • Enjoy working hands-on with Butchery.
  • Possess strong communication, leadership and team-building skills.
  • Have a proven track record of achieving operational efficiency.
  • Is able to work in a cold environment.
  • Is physically fit and strong as some heavy lifting is involved.
  • Possess some good knife-handling skills
