The AMT Group is a locally owned group of companies based in Wigram, Christchurch, specialising in the design, installation, and maintenance of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. The Opportunity:
Due to a growing HVAC Design & Build workload throughout New Zealand, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our experienced design team based in Wigram Christchurch.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Consultant to gain additional buildability experience from a design and build contractors perspective where you will be part of a collaborative team bouncing ideas of our Project Managers and site installers.
Our design team consists of qualified engineers and CAD technicians where you will no longer be just a number in a large consultancy firm, nor paying for parking in town!
Key Requirements:
- Previous knowledge and experience in the HVAC industry
- A recognised trade or engineering qualification
- Experience in HVAC design and creating mechanical drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of New Zealand Building Code compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and partners
- Willing to meet with clients to discuss design requirements and turn these into feasible solutions
- Willingness to meet with suppliers and attend trainings to understand new products and technologies available to the industry
- Well presented with a professional manner
* The ability to travel out of town from time to time
The following are not strict requirements, but would be preferred: - Working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer, or already recognised.
- Experience with designing and drawing in Revit
- Experience in preparing design fees
- Experience with project estimating or value engineering
- Experience as a mechanical consultant
