Prestige Car Parts is a specialist supplier of new and used automotive parts to workshops, panel beaters and retail customers across New Zealand. We are a small, busy team focused on fast service, technical accuracy and honest advice.

We are looking for a full-time Technical Sales Representative to join our East Tamaki branch. The role suits someone with strong automotive parts knowledge and proven experience dealing with trade and retail customers.

The role involves applying technical knowledge to assess customer needs, recommending appropriate solutions, and building long-term business-to-business relationships. As our Technical Sales Representative you will be responsible for the sale complex automotive products (like advanced parts (electrical and mechanical), EV systems, software, etc) by blending deep technical knowledge with sales skills, helping clients (dealers, fleets, technicians) understand features, demonstrating value, resolving technical issues, and closing deals.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand on client business portfolio (workshops, dealerships, industrial customers)
  • Actively seek out new clients within the trade sector to expand the business portfolio
  • Apply in-depth technical knowledge of vehicle parts (e.g., mechanical, electrical, fuel system components) and industry specifications to consult with customers.
  • Assess customers' technical needs in order to understand, recommend and explain suitable goods and services to them simply
  • Present sales proposal and solutions to clients
  • Follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction with goods and services purchased, and resolve any technical problems arising

Skills and experience

• At least five years’ experience in technical sales, automotive parts interpreting, service advising or a closely related role
• Strong knowledge of vehicle components and systems across a range of makes and models
• Confident using electronic catalogues, parts look-up tools and standard office software
• Proven experience dealing with trade customers and the ability to build long-term relationships
• Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written
• High attention to detail and accuracy with part numbers, pricing and paperwork
• Reliable, organised and able to manage multiple enquiries in a fast-paced environment
• A current driver license is preferred as travel may be required

• Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm 
• Hourly rate: Between $35 and $40 per hour depending on skills and experience
