Heavy Diesel Mechanic role:

To ensure functionality and reliability of Pro Mechanical Ltd.’s customers mobile plant equipment and/or Heavy Vehicles by carrying out workshop-based and onsite fault diagnosis, repairs, preventative and breakdown maintenance. Carry out all other duties as required by the Director/Supervisor.

  • Ensure effective Health and Safety measures are followed always.
  • Ensure all clients and their staff receive prompt, effective and professional assistance
  • Diagnose and repair faults in vehicles.
  • Ensure all work is completed in a timely manner or within the hours allocated to the job.
  • Ensure customers are informed of diagnosed faults prior to corrective work and kept informed of work completed prior to departure from the customer’s site.
  • Ensure all job cards, time sheets and paperwork are completed correctly and handed in on time.
  • Always maintain a professional attitude when in contact with clients or their staff.
  • Work in with other Pro-Mechanical staff members as for a collaborative and co-operative team and a happy positive workplace.
  • Ensure your workplace is kept clean and tidy after each job.
  • Pro-Mechanical’s property and premises are kept secure always.
  • Help contribute to the quality of work produced by all other employees.
  • Carry out all and any other duties within your job role as necessary by Management.

We offer:

  • Competitive pay rates and regular performance reviews. Wages of $30-36/hr depending on experience and skills
  • 40 hours minimum guaranteed per week
  • Overtime offered (paid at standard hourly rate). Maximum hours may be up to 50 hours during the peak periods

Suitable candidates:

We are looking for experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanics with 5+ years of relevant experience as an automotive mechanic as a minimum, and NZQA level 4 in Heavy Automotive Engineering (or an equivalent international qualification). 

Candidates must have sufficient experience with modern vehicles, be highly competent in diagnostics, repairs and servicing and able to work to a high standard without supervision.

Ideal candidates will be able to:

  • Work in a team or individually.
  • Work independently and unsupervised.
  • Communicate effectively in English, with good written English and able to understand and meet all Health and Safety requirements.
  • Drive to offsite locations – must have a current, clean drivers license for call-outs and breakdowns. A driver’s license is required.
  • Work on-call on the roster least once a month for our on-call roster. You will be remunerated for your availability.

Suitable candidates must will be willing to undertake pre-employment drug testing, and random onsite drug and alcohol testing may be required as part of the conditions of employment. 

Candidates must not have any criminal record for fraud or dishonesty offences.
