Description

We require a permanent, full-time, Roofing Carpenter to join our growing team in Auckland.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Interpret job plans and worksite details to assess roofing material requirements and plan tasks accordingly.
Set up scaffolding, safety rails, and ladders to enable safe access to roofing areas.
Select, measure, and prepare timber, plywood, framing components, and other roofing materials according to project needs.
Construct and install roof structures, including rafters, trusses, purlins, battens, fascia, and associated timber frameworks.
Shape, cut, and assemble timber elements to achieve correct dimensions, pitch, and alignment for roofing systems.
Install roof underlay, sheathing, and associated structural panels to ensure stability and weather resistance.
Fit roof cladding support structures and assist with integration of roofing materials such as tiles, metal sheets or shingles where required.
Install and secure roof openings including skylight framing, ventilation points, and dormer structures.
Inspect and verify the accuracy, straightness, and structural integrity of completed roof frames before cladding.
Repair or replace existing roof framing, battens, or other timber structures as part of renovation, remediation, or maintenance work.
Construct and dismantle temporary formwork or supports as needed for roofing installations.
Coordinate with builders, joiners, and other trades to ensure structural components are correctly aligned and ready for subsequent installation stages.
Install waterproofing materials along roof edges and other vulnerable areas to prevent leaks
Inspect installed sections for potential water ingress points and seal exposed fixings as needed
Maintain safe work practices when working at height and ensure correct use of tools, equipment, and fall-protection systems.

Requirements:

2 years’ relevant/transferrable experience.
Good understanding of applicable health and safety requirements.
Good understanding of different timber roofing materials commonly used in New Zealand.
Physically fit and able to perform heavy lifting.
Comfortable working at heights and in all weather conditions.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
Clear police record.

Pay rate:

$30 to $35 per hour depending on experience.

Hours:

As this is a full-time position, you will be guaranteed a minimum 30 hours per week but will likely be required to work approximately 40 to 50 hours per week.
