Job Details:
Location: Bay of Plenty
Hours of Work: Full Time, minimum of 30 hours a week, with a usual workload of 40 - 45 hours.
Employment Type: Permanent / Full Time
Pay Range: $30.00 - $41.00 per hour.
Purpose of the Role: Responsible for controlling, organizing and coordinating farming operations to grow nuts and fruits. Management of 10+ staff members, supervision of team
leaders/supervisors, monitoring the orchard activities and operational planning.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
The employee will be responsible for
• Planning, controlling and undertaking orchard operations for fruit production.
• Develop an annual operational plan for the orchard, with a focus at enhancing tree health, quality, yield, and resource efficiency.
• Contribution towards implementation of daily/weekly plans for irrigation, plant/fruit health and management, harvest and orchard expansion.
• Maintain production standards for schedules, cost, and quality to achieve efficiency within the set budget.
• Monitoring of performance with up-to-date accurate reports and records of orchard data.
• Responsible management of expenditure within agreed budgets to achieve set KPI’s.
• Ensure compliance with relevant certification schemes for both fruit production and source material including but not limited to GAP.
• Responsible for recruitment, development, training, coaching staff members.
• Creating an environment for inclusive and progressive thinking, leading the team and making decisions following HR practices.
• Promote awareness of pest and disease’s, rouges and virus as per the SOPs and guarantee safe use and application of Agri-Chemicals, maintaining hygiene standards.
• Ensure all machinery is operated in a safe manner in accordance with the companies Health and Safety standards and is in good condition, and available prior to any operation commencement.
• From time to time the Employee may be required perform other duties within other areas of the company which the Employer may reasonably expect the Employee to perform as the needs of the business dictates.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
• A relevant qualification in horticulture, agriculture or similar field is advantageous.
• A bachelor's qualifciation may substitute the work expereince requirements.
• Two years of work experience and knowledge of farming practices would be essential.
• Familiar with agricultural health, safety regulations and standards.
• Ability to manage staff, equipment and resources.
• Leadership and Management skills.
