Position purpose
To safely and efficiently operate forklifts and related equipment to move, stack, load and unload goods/materials within our [warehouse/distribution yard/production site], supporting timely dispatch and receipt of stock while meeting health & safety and quality standards.
Key tasks and responsibilities
• Operate forklifts to load, unload, move, stack and unstack goods including palletised stock, cartons, crates, containers and bulk materials.
• Receive inbound goods: check labels/quantities, position stock in correct locations, and rotate stock (FIFO where required).
• Pick and stage outbound orders for dispatch, including scanning/barcoding and preparing pallets for transport.
• Safely load/unload trucks and/or containers, including use of restraints and correct load distribution.
• Complete daily pre-start checks, report faults, and keep forklifts clean and service-ready (basic maintenance checks only).
• Operate within site traffic rules, speed limits, pedestrian zones, racking limits, and safe lifting capacities.
• Maintain accurate records using [RF scanner/WMS/manual logs], including stock movements and damage reporting.
• Support general warehouse tasks when required (e.g., manual handling, wrapping pallets, housekeeping).
• Follow all company policies and procedures, including drug & alcohol policy, H&S procedures, and quality standards.
Minimum requirements
• Minimum 3 years relevant forklift driving experience in a warehouse/logistics/production environment OR
• a relevant NZQA qualification at Level 4 or above (or equivalent).
• Clean Driver’s license – Overseas is acceptable
• Drug test is compulsory
Skills
• Strong understanding of safe forklift operations, load stability, and warehouse safety procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions, complete basic documentation, and use scanning/WMS systems (training provided where needed).
• Physically fit for warehouse duties (manual handling) and able to work rostered shifts.
• Must pass any lawful pre-employment checks required for the role (e.g., reference checks; drug/alcohol test if applicable to site policy).
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
