• Must have 2 years work experience; or

A Sheep Shearer is responsible for shearing wool from sheep using specialized equipment while ensuring the welfare and safety of the animals. The role involves managing the shearing process efficiently to produce high-quality fleece for the wool industry.

  • Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.

Applicants must have the following as per employer’s requirement: 

  • Applicants must be physically fit.
  • Applicants must pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Applicants must provide a CV.
  • Valid driver’s license

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Shear sheep efficiently and skilfully to remove fleece with minimal stress or harm
    to the animal.
  • Operate and maintain shearing equipment, ensuring tools are in safe working
    condition. 
  • Manage and handle sheep during the shearing process to minimize injury and
    discomfort.
  • Assess sheep for any health or injury concerns and report issues to farm management.
  • Work collaboratively with shearing teams, wool handlers, and farm staff to meet shearing targets and deadlines.
  • Sort and stack fleece according to quality standards.
  • Follow industry best practices and adhere to animal welfare guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the shearing shed and surrounding work area.
