We now need a Metal Fabricator to help complete our projects to a high standard. This is a full-time position. You are guaranteed a workload of 30 hours per week.
As a Metal Fabricator, you are required to undertake the following tasks:
· Interpreting design plans, site measurements, engineering specifications, and project drawings to determine fabrication and installation requirements for shade sails, canopies, and structural framing.
· Selecting, preparing, and cleaning metal materials such as steel and aluminium used for shade structures, posts, brackets, and tensioning components.
· Cutting and shaping metal sections in accordance with project specifications using hand tools, saws, grinders, flame-cutting torches, and metal-cutting machinery.
· Shaping, bending, and forming metal posts, brackets, and frames using manual and powered tools, including heating and hammering where required to achieve correct dimensions.
· Aligning structural components and hardware using measuring instruments and hand tools to ensure a precise fit before welding or mechanical fastening.
· Fabricating and assembling steel or aluminium components by applying appropriate welding techniques (e.g., MIG/TIG), bolting, riveting, or other mechanical fastening methods used in shade structure construction.
· Inspecting welds and joints to ensure correct bead width, penetration, structural strength, and compliance with Shade Expert quality standards.
· Finishing fabricated components by grinding, filing, polishing, cleaning, and applying protective treatments to prepare the parts for powder-coating, installation, or tensioning.
· Smoothing and refining welds and joins through chiselling, grinding, and sanding to achieve a clean and safe finish suitable for outdoor installation.
· Assisting with the on-site installation of shade sails, canopies, and support structures, ensuring components are securely fixed and correctly tensioned.
Requirements for this role include:
· At least 2 years of work experience in construction
· Have a can-do attitude and can work in teams
· Have good ability in communication and have good team spirit
