B&Y Smith Ltd are looking for a Welder to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent role with 40 working hours per week from Monday to Friday. The working location is in Auckland. We offer an hourly rate of $30.00.

Some role responsibilities would include:

l   Interpret and understand drawings and blueprints prior to commencing work

l   Source, prepare, and verify materials required for projects

l   Accurately measure, cut, and fit material components according to specifications

l   Perform on-site welding of materials using appropriate welding methods, consumables, and equipment to join the metals together

l   Operate and maintain welding tools and equipment in accordance with safety and professional standards

l   Monitor each stage of the welding process to ensure weld quality, structural integrity, and compliance with project requirements

l   Check completed welds on site to verify weld bead width, penetration, and alignment meet quality and safety standards.

l   Inspect completed welds, identify defects or irregularities, and carry out corrective work as required

l   Maintain a clean and safe worksite upon completion of tasks, including removal of debris and proper storage and sorting of tools and equipment

l   Clean and remove any contamination  after completion of a job, collect & sort tools

Preferred Skills and Experience:

·         Must have at least three years of relevant work experience OR

·         Have a relevant NZQF Level 4 or higher qualification

·         High accuracy and attention to detail

·         Physically fit

·         Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
