Role Overview
We are seeking a versatile and reliable Truck Driver to join our team. This role is unique in its variety; you won't be stuck doing just one thing. You will operate a range of vehicles, including Tipper trucks for road works and construction and waste collection units (General and Food waste).
Key Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Operation & Maneuvering
- Safely operate various heavy vehicles including Tippers, and Waste Collection trucks.
- Maneuver vehicles into tight positions for loading/unloading at construction sites, asphalt plants, quarries, and residential/commercial waste routes.
- Perform controlled tipping operations following specific site instructions.
2. Transport & Delivery
- Transport materials such as soil, gravel, hotmix/asphalt, frozen goods, and waste across various regions.
- Follow designated routes and strict time schedules to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Ensure all goods and materials are stowed securely and covered to prevent loss or spillage.
3. Compliance & Safety
- Conduct daily pre-start checks and maintain the vehicle in a clean, safe, and roadworthy condition.
- Monitor and report on RUC, Registration, and COF requirements.
- Strictly adhere to Health & Safety regulations, traffic management plans, and fatigue management policies.
- Accurately estimate weights to comply with legal load limitations and ensure safe weight distribution.
4. Documentation & Administration
- Maintain accurate driver logbooks and electronic records in a timely manner.
- Complete all job sheets, delivery dockets, and quality reports.
- Report any defects, incidents, or near-misses immediately to the Manager/Director.
Working Conditions & Requirements
- Must be physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks associated with loading, unloading, and site duties.
- Willingness to work a varied roster, including day/night shifts, weekends, and hot-mix night works.
- Ability to travel outside of Auckland for Tipper deliveries as required. Travel expenses and accommodation will be provided for out-of-town work.
- Liaise professionally with site supervisors, dispatchers, and customers, representing the company with a positive attitude.
Skills & Qualifications
- A valid NZ Class 4 licence or Overseas equivalent license holder willing to convert
- Relevant training on Tipper and Waste operations will be provided.
- Clean driving and criminal record and a commitment to safety.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
