Kimmy Farm Limited is a chili farm located in Kaitaia, Northland. We now need two Nurserypersons to help us provide top-quality chili. This is a full-time job with guaranteed hours of 30 hours per week.

The job involves the following tasks and duties:  

· Mix and prepare soil blends, compost, seed-raising mix, pots, trays, and greenhouse beds suitable for chilli propagation and growth.

· Choose high-quality chilli seeds, seedlings, and cuttings; sow them in nursery beds, trays, tunnels, and field areas following seasonal schedules.

· Prepare and graft chilli varieties onto compatible rootstock where required to improve yield, disease resistance, or plant vigour.

· Water plants manually and manage automated irrigation or misting systems to maintain optimal moisture levels in nursery and growing areas.

· Apply pesticides, fertilisers, and foliar sprays to manage pests, diseases, weeds, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stresses that affect chilli production.

· Record soil mix recipes, sowing dates, plant batches, grafting activities, treatments applied, pest/disease issues, plant losses, and final yields.

· Select healthy seedlings for transplanting or sale; package young chilli plants safely for distribution or delivery to growers and markets.

· Provide guidance on chilli plant care, watering, fertilising, pest management, and best varieties for local New Zealand growing conditions.

 

To qualify for the job:

· At least 2 years of relevant work experience is required

· A relevant certificate, or a Bachelor's Degree in any major, can replace the work experience requirement

· Ability to prepare potting mixes, handle seedlings, graft plants, and manage watering systems.

· Basic knowledge of plant health, including pest/disease control and safe use of agrichemicals.

· Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· Good record-keeping skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a small farm team.

· Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high crop quality.
