We are looking for 2 competent Team Leaders for our busy horticulture company located in the heart of the Waikato. These are full time permanent positions and will consist of
managing team members who are working in our contracted orchards as well as the
requirement to be able to operate and use relevant farm machinery, competently.
Our orchard business comprises of 30ha of kiwifruit on 4 separate sites. The sites are all
located in the greater Waikato Region – Te Awamutu and Cambridge. You will be
responsible for the supervision of team members allocated to you on your site and their first
point of contact. You should have excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) and be able to work independently to reach goals. You must be able to multitask and will be able to complete work in set time frames.
In addition to operating machinery, you will be expected to perform management tasks such as preparing the time and wage records for staff, creating reports for work, communicating with farmers and growers.
Pay rate will be $28 - $35 per hour depending on prior relevant work experience and/or any relevant qualification.
You will be required to complete the following tasks:
read spray plans and follow instructions in regard to chemical amounts and mixing
operating tractor drawn and self-propelled machinery to mow, fertilise, mulch and
spray orchards and prepare soil for planting and allow access ways and roadsides,
drive tractors and forklifts,
stack, unstack, move and distribute fruit bins using tractors, loaders and forklifts,
transport produce, bins, equipment and machinery between orchards by truck,
transport workers in vans and passenger vehicles,
verify loading documents and make regular checks of machinery and vehicles to
ensure they can be operated safely.
You will need to be flexible and good at negotiations.
To be suitable for these positions candidates must have:
at least 2 years of relevant experience in a farming/cropping business,
a Grow Safe Certificate is preferred,
a full NZ/International Drivers Licence with heavy vehicle endorsement (F
endorsement also desirable),
ability to get up early - spraying often happens very early in the morning before winds
pick up,
attention to detail and health & safety,
can do attitude and reasonable level of fitness,
prior experience in spray-handling and sprayer operation an advantage.

A clear drug and alcohol is essential
You will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week Mon-Fri between 7am and 7pm.
(Early starts and weekend work is necessary when weather and growing conditions require
us to catch up or get ahead).
Successful candidates will be required to undergo further training including forklift operationand spray-handling.
