LUXURY INTERIORS LIMITED is a professional renovation and construction contractor servicing clients across New Zealand.
The company delivers comprehensive residential and commercial renovation solutions, offering end-to-end services from design and material selection through to construction and final handover.
Its scope of work includes interior renovations such as kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, cabinetry and full interior reconfigurations, as well as exterior and outdoor construction works including decks, fencing, landscaping and related improvement projects.
With an in-house production and project team of approximately 20 staff and contractors, the company manages multiple renovation projects concurrently and requires dedicated financial and bookkeeping support to maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with New Zealand regulations.
Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Bookkeeper to support the company’s day-to-day financial and accounting operations.
The role is responsible for maintaining accurate transaction-level financial records, supporting project-based cost tracking, and ensuring compliance with New Zealand GST and PAYE requirements. The Bookkeeper will work closely with management, project staff, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the smooth operation of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records using Xero, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process supplier and subcontractor invoices, ensuring correct coding to projects, cost centres and accounts
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Record and monitor project-based costs, progress payments and variations for renovation and construction projects
- Prepare and lodge GST returns in accordance with Inland Revenue requirements
- Assist with payroll processing, including PAYE and KiwiSaver obligations where required
- Maintain expense claims, receipts and supporting accounting documentation
- Prepare basic financial summaries and management reports as required
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, internal project staff and external accountants regarding payments and financial records
- Support the maintenance and improvement of internal bookkeeping and financial control procedures
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in bookkeeping or accounts-related roles
- Practical experience using Xero or similar accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records
- Good organisational skills and ability to work independently
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with management and external stakeholders
Employment Details
- Employment type: Full-time, permanent
- Hours of work: 35–40 hours per week
- Hourly rate: NZD $30 – $35 per hour, depending on skills and experience
