Our company is looking for a permanent, full-time Senior Log Truck Driver (Class 5) to join our busy team in the Bay of Plenty.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership to less experienced log truck drivers in the team

  • Assist with mentoring and training junior drivers in safe heavy vehicle operation, log loading and restraint, forestry road protocols, and fatigue management

  • Step in to help manage and resolve emergency situations, including vehicle breakdowns, accidents, road closures, or adverse weather events

  • Provide informal performance feedback and escalate training or compliance concerns to management where required

  • Take responsibility for your vehicle and notify the company of any servicing or maintenance required

  • Assist with loading and unloading items safely to avoid damage

  • Adhere to assigned routes and follow time schedules

  • Abide by all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record

  • Review job sheets before and after delivery to ensure orders are complete

  • Inform management of any obstructions to making safe and efficient deliveries on time

  • Keep your vehicle clean and tidy

  • Prepare reports and other documents relating to deliveries

  • Notify the company immediately of any accidents or vehicle damage and complete required paperwork within 24 hours

  • Maintain a current driver’s licence applicable to the vehicle being driven

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years’ relevant experience

  • Heavy Vehicle Licence (NZ Class 5 or overseas equivalent)

  • Physically fit, as the role is physically demanding

  • Ability to drive a 9-axle truck and trailer unit through demanding terrain

  • Excellent communication skills to provide training to trainee drivers

  • Pre-employment drug test required

Hours: 45–70 hours per week
