Are you an experienced Bookkeeper looking to work in a growing retail environment? We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable accounting professional to join our established retail business in Hastings.


Key Responsibilities

• Maintain daily financial records, ledgers, and journals relating to retail store operations
• Process supplier invoices for stock, consumables, and operational purchases
• Reconcile POS sales reports, cash takings, EFTPOS summaries, and bank accounts
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including follow-ups with suppliers and customers
• Prepare staff payroll, ensure correct holiday pay, and maintain accurate wage records
• Track inventory costs, stock movements, wastage, and gross margins to support pricing and profitability
• Prepare GST, PAYE, and other IRD returns and tax filings, ensuring full and timely compliance
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring weekly and monthly operating expenses
• Maintain organised filing systems, receipts, and financial documentation in line with audit requirements
• Provide regular financial updates and management reports to the business owner

Skills & Experience Required

• A relevant degree-level qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
• At least 2 years of relevant bookkeeping or accounting experience (retail experience preferred)
• Proficiency with Xero or similar accounting software
• High level of accuracy, strong numerical and analytical skills, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
